Donor sperm is an excellent option for couples who face fertility challenges such as azospermia (no sperm), low sperm count or low motility and for couples where the male partner may be a carrier of a genetic disease. It is also a solution for women without a male partner who desire a child.
Donor sperm specimens are obtained from reputable nationally-accredited sperm banks where they are carefully screened for motility, sperm count and specific genetic diseases then cryogenically stored. These specimens can be used for IUI (intra-uterine insemination) and in smaller samples for IVF and other ART procedures.
At Laurel Fertility Care, we have worked with a number of sperm cyrobanks. The list below is a partial list of the cryobanks patients have chosen in the past. We recommend that you research donor agencies thoroughly and check if they are registered with the FDA.
