My husband and I got a referral for Dr. Smike from my OB, and come to find out he is the same doctor that helped my cousin conceive twins about 5 years ago. She had nothing but good things to say about her experience with Dr. Smikle and his team, so this reduced our anxiety a little bit and we decided to proceed with a mini IVF. Our overall experience was exceptional! There was a lot of information to learn and medication to take and the whole team made sure we were clear about everything, every step along the way. Ursula, the nurse we communicated regularly with, was very though and prompt with email responses. Even the receptionists were attentive and informative. Unfortunately this cycle was unsuccessful for us, but the staff was very supportive and reassuring. If we consider another cycle in the future, it is without a doubt we will go back to Laurel Fertility Care.

After today’s experience with Dr. Smikle, I feel like it’s only fair if I write a few words of appreciation about him. Today Dr. Smikle went above and beyond to accommodate me (given my crazy work schedule), so I can get my appointment. We communicated via emails and he kept offering solutions to my problems throughout the day, demonstrating great problem solving skills.

Also, I started off on the wrong foot with my IVF cycle, but Dr. Smikle was very reassuring and supportive, and again, offered alternatives and solutions, based on “what will work best for me”. If this doesn’t show that he cares, I don’t know what will. He is very honest and direct in his communication and I truly appreciate that. Another thing, he is really good with his hands. He always verbally prepares me for the procedure, but I never feel pressure or discomfort during the exams and the ultrasounds.

This place is amazing and I went to two other fertility clinics previously that I did not like. This place was positive and optimistic about my chances even though I was 43 years old. Previous places had been so negative and horrible about it like I was a crazy person for even thinking I had a chance to get pregnant. And I GOT PREGNANT here!!!! They worked with me and let me do natural IUI’s and did not treat me like I was crazy. I got pregnant on the first one. Have a 1.5 month old beautiful baby girl now.

I believe this place is the reason why. I cannot recommend it enough. All of the doctors were amazing.

“My husband and I came to Laurel Fertility Care very despondent by my prognosis of infertility, which I received just after turning 40. My OB/GYN was fairly negative about my chances of having a child but I tried to approach the whole situation with an open mind.
