Reproductive Endocrinologist

Dr. Kao returned to the Bay area to join Laurel Fertility Care in 2007, after serving as co-director of the Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for more than 3 years. He had also in the past been on faculty at both Stanford University and UCLA, and had extensive academic career focusing on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) research and endometriosis-related infertility.

Dr. Kao received his clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Georgetown University in DC, and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is board certified in both general obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Kao is also fluent in both Mandarin and Taiwanese languages. He obtained his MD degree from the Taipei Medical University and subsequently earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania for his research in molecular biology focusing on human placental development.

Dr. Kao has authored more than 70 articles and book chapters and continues his research interests in human embryo implantation mechanism. He is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART).
