

Dr. Kao was born in Taipei, Taiwan and a native speaker in Mandarin and Taiwanese. He obtained his medical degree from Taipei Medical College, now Taipei Medical University. After completing his mandatory military service, Dr. Kao studied at the ivy league University of Pennsylvania and earned his PhD for his research in molecular biology focusing on human placental development.
Dr. Kao completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Pennsylvania. His extensive research focused on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis-related infertility. He had been on faculty at Stanford University and UCLA, and was co-director for Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He joined Laurel Fertility Care in 2007. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
Dr. Kao has authored numerous articles and book chapters and continues research on human embryo implantation and endometriosis. He is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI), and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART).
